I’m proud of all the work the council does for the people of Norfolk. You’ll find some great examples in this edition.
My team was elected under the banner of caring for our county – we care about our residents and the services we provide to them. Caring means doing the best we can, even as we have to make savings of £125 million.
Things will have to be done differently – in different buildings and in different ways. We’ll help people live as independently as possible as we recognise that day centres or care homes are not the best option for some older residents of Norfolk.
What’s most important to you – the building, or the service? Imagine if we ran several services from each building. That could save money and help to join things up.
I hope you’ll read this edition of Your Norfolk and learn more about our ideas.
We’re also running a series of roadshows, where you can hear what I’m proposing and tell me what you think. More information will be available on our website soon, so please come along and give us your ideas.
Last but not least, I’d like to wish you and your loved ones a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. Despite the challenges, there’s lots to look forward to in 2018.
